Last week I wrote a blog about Stepping Outside The Circle to do ministry. Yet the one thing I did not truly address was how to overcome fear. Recently a friend sent this inspirational quote to me asking:
What is Your Deepest Fear
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.”
Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love
Yes, it is scary to start something new, to move outside our comfort zone, to share God’s truths when there is so much sarcasm, cynicism and division in our world.
But if we believe we are doing the work God has called us to do, that we are following his plan for our lives, then we can act with the confidence claimed in the quote above. We can act with courage, conviction and power to be a child of God, a woman with a meaningful purpose and an extraordinary life.
The answers to overcoming fear lie not in ourselves but in our confidence and trust in God, in the Word of God, the Bible and in His divine presence in our lives. Be convinced that he will be with you, and he will enable you to do the ministry work he calls you to do. Believe in his power to change lives in a positive, permanent, perpetual way.
“I have commanded you, ‘Be strong and courageous! Don’t tremble or be terrified, because the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.’” (Joshua 1:9 GW)
